MORNING SESSION 1

What Providers Need to Know About Nebraska’s Latest Child Care Tax Credits

In 2023, state lawmakers passed a groundbreaking tax credit package intended to enhance Nebraska’s early childhood workforce, strengthen programs serving subsidy-eligible children, encourage private sector contributions to child care, and support families facing the financial challenges of raising little ones. Now, it’s up to all of us to put these tax credits to good use so legislators continue to understand, protect, and expand investments in our youngest kids, as well as the people who educate and care for them.

First Five Nebraska Deputy Director and Public Policy Manager Elizabeth Everett will give an overview of the improved School Readiness Tax Credits for child care professionals and programs, and what providers need to do to take full advantage of them. She will also discuss the critical role providers will play in the success of the refundable and non-refundable credits of the Child Care Tax Credit Act throughout the state.
